You are a cat. Cats always land on their feet. Everything else does not.

Whiskerfall is a turn-based roguelike played inside a box. Press Q or E and the whole room rotates ninety degrees; enemies, boulders, bombs, urns, and you, and then everything obeys gravity at once. You are the only thing in the tower that survives the landing, so most fights are won by deciding what falls on what.

What makes it different

The room is the key. Most turn-based roguelikes give you a character with abilities. Whiskerfall gives you the building. Your two real moves are rotate left and rotate right.

Gravity is the damage system. You have claws, but they're the boring option. The interesting option is a three-tile drop onto something heavy.

The cat is the mechanic, not the skin. "Cats land on their feet" isn't flavor text; it's the rule the whole design rests on, because it makes you the only stable thing in a room where everything else is a projectile.

Perfect information. Tab previews the spin: ghosts show you exactly where everything ends up. Nothing kills you that the game wasn't willing to show you first.

What's in the demo

  • Three wings and three bosses — the Cellar, the Library and the Observatory, each with its own light, enemies and music
  • A full run is about fifteen rooms and six minutes, so a bad one costs you nothing
  • 32 relics, 5 cat breeds, 13 kinds of enemies that fall, fly, cling, or refuse to die properly
  • 10 optional curses. Clear the tower wearing one, and it keeps a gold star. Stack them if you want the run to get mean
  • Rooms are generated from 36 hand-built templates plus procedural fill, so the shapes are authored and the arrangement isn't
